Precision and Efficiency with the DS350 Double Miter Saws from HECHT AG

Fensterbau Schneider GmbH, based in Güglingen, is a long-established, family-run company that has been producing high-quality windows and doors made of wood and wood-aluminium for over 100 years. As a reliable partner for construction projects of any size, Schneider stands for tailor-made solutions and impresses with a combination of craftsmanship and modern production technology.
At the heart of the company’s philosophy are individual customer requirements, on-time delivery, and the highest demands in design, safety, energy efficiency, and quality. With around 50 employees and a production facility that unites tradition and innovation, Schneider regularly sets benchmarks in its segment.
Investment in Precision & Efficiency:
Reasons for Choosing the HECHT DS350

To further optimize its manufacturing processes, Fensterbau Schneider recently acquired two DS350 double miter saws from HECHT AG in Besigheim. The decision in favor of these machines followed a comprehensive analysis of production requirements and a clear objective: the manufacture of glazing beads and muntins should become more precise, faster, and safer—without major setup effort or the need for additional jigs.
The HECHT DS350 stands for precision, flexibility, and operating comfort and is specially designed for window production. It enables precise cutting of wooden and aluminium profiles and is characterized by fully automatic length positioning and infinitely variable angle adjustment via servo axes. In this way, the DS350 meets all the requirements of modern window manufacturers in terms of process reliability, efficiency, and customization.
The Interface with Window Software and Wireless Caliper:
Efficient and Exact

A central step in the production process is determining the lengths of the glazing beads. For this, Schneider relies on its proven, industry-specific window-construction software. For every production order, the software creates an exact cutting list and provides the nominal dimensions for all glazing beads.
However, the cutting of muntins (glazing bars) demands the highest accuracy—especially when muntins have to be produced to the actual window dimensions, which often differ from the nominal values by just a few tenths of a millimeter.
To transfer the actual dimensions of the muntins directly into the control for cutting, the HECHT GMF wireless caliper is used. For each window, the exact values are captured digitally and transmitted wirelessly. This allows the strips to be cut to the millimeter—without repeated re-cutting and without transmission errors. Stored angle specifications and one-time determined correction values of the clear opening dimension deliver the right end result straight away: the muntins fit directly and exactly! Multiple re-cuts or time-consuming adjustment work are completely eliminated.
Flexibility and Precision:
Infinitely Variable Angle Adjustment and Automatic Positioning
The particular advantage of the HECHT DS350 lies in its convenient and precise setting options. Using servo axes, the cutting angle can be adjusted steplessly from 22.5° inside to 135° outside, so that all angle requirements—from the typical 45° to individual miters—can be implemented at the touch of a button. At the same time, the positioning of the length setting is automatic: after data entry or transfer from the software, the machine moves precisely to the desired length dimension.
This technology is especially advantageous for producing roller-shutter guide rails, weather-protection profiles, strike/stop beads, and muntins with different angle requirements. Different workpieces can be cut without cumbersome retooling or the use of mechanical jigs.
Short-Part Automatic:
Flexibility with Small Parts and Precision in Pusher Mode
Glazing beads or muntins with very short lengths—starting, for example, at 50 mm when cutting at 45°—are often a challenge in window production. For this, HECHT’s DS350 offers a special short-part automatic in manual pusher mode: the operator simply places the strip, and the automatic length positioning plus automatic angle transfer of both ends ensure an exact cut even for particularly short workpieces.
This significantly accelerates the workflow and enables flexible, disruption-free production of parts with widely varying lengths—without compromising on safety or cut quality. Employees benefit from user-friendly operation and can be productive immediately without long training.
Customer Benefits and Conclusion:
Customer Focus and Employee Satisfaction
The installation of the two HECHT DS350 double miter saws represents a genuine step into the future for Fensterbau Schneider. The machines integrate perfectly into the company’s digital production concept and enable manufacturing that meets the highest standards of quality, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
- Customer-oriented production: Glazing beads and special profiles can be manufactured to fit exactly for each customer or job.
- Increased efficiency: Thanks to the software interface and the wireless caliper, errors in dimension transfer and unnecessary work steps are eliminated.
- Safe and comfortable working: Employees’ daily work is eased, risks are minimized, and operation is intuitive and quick to learn.
- Quality gains: The dimensional accuracy of the cut profile strips impresses even the most demanding customers; rework is virtually eliminated.
